Salsas pictured from left to right: Roasted Garlic, Chipotle Fire Roasted Corn, Habanero Watermelon and Tortuga Bay Pineapple Mango. Make your own salsas using tomatoes, fruits or other vegetables of your choice. The recipes we provide are intended to inspire the use of a variety of fruits (see below for more on this). The recipes are also intended to inspire uses that are traditional in Latin countries, but not very familiar here, yet. We encourage using these salsas like you would relishes with chicken, pork and fish too. The salsas give them a whole different pallet of wonderful flavors.
Use fresh, canned, frozen or dried ingredients or a combination, depending on what’s in season or in your pantry or freezer. Our salsa mixes provide the basic flavor profiles. Roasted Garlic was designed to be a traditional tomato salsa. Chipotle, Habanero and Tortuga Bay were designed to be made with fruits, but also work with tomatoes. Our newest fruit combinations are caramel apple and, when they are in season, cranberries. Both combinations go well with the heat from chilis and salt from tortilla chips. Our customers seem to think we’re really on to something good with these unusual combinations! See SALSA RECIPES for directions. We also frequently add rum or gold tequila to our prepared salsas when we sample them – it just gives them an added layer of flavor that enhances the flavors of the other ingredients.
We strongly believe in healthy eating as often as possible, without giving up the taste. We add no preservatives or colors to our salsas. We add no salt to the Chipotle, Habanero or Tortuga Bay Salsa mixes, and only the bare minimum to the Roasted Garlic Salsa mix, to accommodate those with sodium restricted diets. And using the prepared fruit salsas as relishes with chicken, pork or fish makes it easy to enjoy eating more foods that are healthy!
We hope you will be inspired to try these or your own favorite fruits with our salsa mixes.
