This is the store for Karen Sabatello’s Arte & Vita (Art & Life) business.  Karen is a self taught artist who has been enthralled by decorative painting since childhood.  She says that giving something old new life gives them even more character.  She’s been painting for over 25 years, focusing on topics that reflect her interests and passions.  Her hand painted vases are among the most beautiful we have seen.  She is also happy to personalize her art.

The row above showcases some of Karen’s floral work.  The hurricane candle holders on the left and right are 6” tall.  The cylinder vases in the center are 8-.5” x 3.5”. While most of the vases have floral themes, the candle holders have a variety of themes.  Find these and other beautiful hand painted vases and hurricane candle holders at AV VASE.

Decorating with Lights

In this section we feature traditional and new ways that lighting that can reinforce the party theme, enhance the party’s ambience, or set the whole tone of your party, making it more romantic or fun .  Candles are perennial favorites because colors can change with the seasons, or lovely neutral colors work year round, and they can be displayed in a variety of interesting ways.  Candle holders can be decorations in their own right.  Party lights have also been popular.  Now technology has brought us micro string lights, “flameless” candles, floating tea candles and submersible lighting at prices that are affordable.  And with minimal effort, you can incorporate lighting into your party decorations.

Most companies selling the new lighting forms are focusing their photography on the lights themselves, rather than showing how they can be used.  See our DECORATING WITH LIGHTS board on Pinterest® for some examples of how string lights and the various new kinds of “candles” can be used alone and in combination with traditional decorative lighting.

Create your own amazing new party lighting.

The only thing that could make Karen’s hand painted vases and wine bottles more beautiful is to light them.  Above are some of Karen’s lighted, hand painted, vases and bottles with a floral theme.

Besides floral, Karen also likes to paint animals, especially cats.   All the lighted wine bottles in the top row above feature cats.  The bottles in the middle row includes a dog and a duck.  The bottom row features black cats, on the left hand painted on a 6” hurricane candle holder, and on the right in a hand painted lighted 8” bubble bowl.

Lighted wine bottles are 1.5 L, so the details are very clear.  Find these and many more hand painted, lighted items online at AV LIGHT.

Save On Crafts

This family owned business began in 2005 when Rob Latham, who had been working for a well known home décor company realized the extent to which an online business could out perform even traditional big box retailers, and still provide better quality products and working environment.  He started in a small warehouse with a single office and selling only online.  By 2008 the company hit critical mass, and the beginning of high annual growth.  Profits since have been reinvested in the company, staff, three warehouses and offering a wider selection of high quality products (60% made in the USA).  The company’s Mission Statement sums this business up beautifully:  We exist to serve by providing our customers with unlimited high quality décor options, at unbeatable everyday prices with unbelievably quick shipping and amazing service.  With over 19.000 5 star reviews, you can be pretty sure they live up to that statement.

The row above features holders for floating candles.  On the left is a clear glass bowl, the most familiar vehicle for floating candles.  It is available here in 8” and 10” diameters.  In the middle are square candle holders in three heights, shown with regular pillar candles, but more impressive with floating candles.  These are hand blown.  They can be purchased individually or in sets of 3.  The set shown includes 4” x 4” candles in 6”, 8” and 12” heights (this set sells for $16.99).  On the right is a set of 3 cylinder glass candle holders set atop an octagonal table mirror.  The holders accommodate 3” diameter candles and those shown range from 7.6” to 10.5” high.  The table mirror shown is 8” diameter.  This 4 piece set sells for $12.99, or you can have a 10” mirror for $1 more or a 12” mirror for $2 more.  The mirrors really highlight whatever arrangement you have in the holders.

Lighted branches can brighten even the dullest corners, but it requires a bit of work and patience to create them yourself.  Shown above on the left is a set of 2 pussy willow branches with 48 LED bulbs.  The branches are 35” tall and about 8” wide.  They’re priced at $19.99 and are plug in, so they last a long time.  On the right are crystal beaded LED lighted branches.  There are six branches, and LED lights are warm white.  These are battery operated (3 batteries needed), ideal for dark areas with no electric outlets.  The set is priced at $20.99.  Basically, you unpack these, activate the lighting, find a good place for them and you’re ready to entertain.
