You’re having a party, time to decorate.

Pottery Barn

The hanging ghost on the left above is 48” high x 25.5” x 8”, has adjustable arms and is pre-lit. It has an on/off switch and the lights are powered by 3 AA batteries, not included. It can be used indoors or covered outdoors. The Mr. Bones skeleton on the right is 6’6” tall, 18” wide and 8: deep. He is completely adjustable and can be used indoors or outdoors. Mud Pie

Mud Pie, based out of Stone Mountain, GA, is a “lifestyle brand that creates gifts to inspire all of life’s sparkling moments.” The company began life in 1998 as the inspiration of Marcia Miller, with three employees and a one page catalog printed at a local photo store. Today, Marcia is the CEO of Mud Pie, which now has 160 employees and 750 catalog pages, each with professionally photographed images of the award-winning apparel, gifts and home décor they design and manufacture. Mud Pie is rightfully famous for the wit and whimsy of their ceramic serveware, They carry that through their entire tableware product line. While they are a manufacturer and their products can be found in many retail stores, they also sell their products through their website.

On the right and left are door mats. They’re made of woven coir. The ones on the left are 30” x 17.5” and the one on the right is 29” x 18”. In the middle is a washed canvas skeleton table runner. It’s 94” x 15”. This picture is much more meaningful when you look at the bottom picture, which is just the table runner. Although Mud Pie doesn’t specify, it’s likely that the actual table length that can be covered before the skeleton drapes is not more than 72” to show the whole skeletons on the ends of the table. If you had a larger table, you could arrange the runner to drape just the hanging parts of the legs. Find the doormats online at MP HDOOR and the table runner at MP HDÉCOR.

Oriental Trading Company

Oriental Trading Company has an amazing array of party supplies. They started out using catalogs to sell to teachers, expanded to corporate sales and now sell to everyone online. They specialize in disposable party supplies, but in recent years have added items that are intended to be kept. Their pricing is typically somewhere between competitive and quite low, although sometimes the prices are so low because they are selling items by the dozen (we’ll note the number of units for the price for each item if there is more than one pictured). Batteries, if required, are not included.

The top two rows above contain toss pillows (sold in sets of 2), a throw and a table runner, all surprising from Oriental Trading Co. The table runner is 90” x 17” and is made of cotton. Pictures in the middle row show how black lace can be used. On the left it’s used as a spider web to drape over a lamp shade. On the right it’s used for a mantle scarf (80” x 20”, made of polyester). In the next to bottom row, on the left is a light up black bat wreath and on the right a set of glitter gold tea light holders. These can be used as together as a center piece, or separately for accents. The bottom row features hanging bats (sold by the dozen, 6.5” x 13” made of vinyl and on an elastic string) and light up witch hats (set of 3, 15” x 14” nylon; requires 3 AA batteries). These can be used inside or outside.

The skulls on the left in the next to bottom row are 5” high and sold in a bag by the dozen. Put some of them in a bowl with string lights to use as a center piece or scatter them around for accents. The eyes on the right are haunting, even if they’re only 1.5” to 3” tall. Place them where they can see and be seen, like on the mantle.

For things that are coming or going, we liked the clawing, laughing zombie ground breaker with flashing red eyes on the left of the bottom row. He requires 2 AA batteries and is priced at $29.99. We also liked the “Boo Breaker” on the right. He comes in two pieces made of polyester, each with attached suction cups that attach to the inside and outside of the window. He’s 20”, counting both sides and is priced at $24.98.

Christmastree Shops and & That! Stores

Christmas Tree Shops operates over 70 locations, including a few named “& That.” The stores are mostly in the northeast or southeast including 20 states. They have a broad selection of home decor and entertaining items, at amazingly low prices. Most items are sold individually. They no longer sell on their website as they’re concentrating on sharing new ideas instead. We like them so much that we’ are still including them in this section. They’re definitely worth a visit, however you do it.

These folks have a very wide assortment of sitting and standing Halloween characters, of which the are a few, but representative. The sitting witch on the right in the top row is 29.5” tall and priced at $7.99. The metal Jack-O-Lantern in the center is 28” and priced at $9.99. The burlap standing skeleton wreath is 31” tall and priced at $24.99. There are also scarecrows in many sizes, clothing patterns and sometimes in pairs. Prices generally don’t exceed $13.00.

The flameless candles in the second row are sold in set of 2 priced at $9.98 per set. The light up skeleton hand holding a crystal ball is 7.5” tall and priced at $6.99. The LED lighted Day of the Dead skulls are made of poly resin, are 13” high and require 2 AA batteries each (not included). They’re priced at $9.99 each.

The cotton jacquard Halloween tablecloths in the bottom row are available in most sizes with costs from $7.99 to $10.99. There are also two more plaid/checked patterns available.

The tombstones in the top row are 26” h x 16” wide and made of foam. The green or red eyes are LEDs powered by batteries, included. Price is $7.99. The groundbreaker set in the center has glowing LED eyes, powered by included batteries. Price is $16.99.

All three animated figures in the middle row are powered by 3 AAA batteries, included, have an on/off switch, and require easy assembly. The Witch with the Spell Book on the left is 6’ tall. Her eyes shine when casting a spell from the book. The Bones Reaper in the center is 5’7” tall. His eyes light up, he has a moving skeletal head and ghoulish sound effects. The Corpse Bride on the right is 5’2” tall. She has bendable arms, motion activated eyes that light up and a haunting moan. All these figures are shown under the Outdoor Décor listing, but can certainly also be used indoors.

The bottom row contains three of the store’s cute garden flags. They’re 28” x 40” and priced at $9.99.

Pier 1

The table runner on the left in the top row is 72” x 1” and made of polyester. The beaded table runner on the right is 35” x 13”. The fabric is polyester and the beads are glass and acrylic. The Jack-o-Lantern napkin rings in the center are sold in sets of 6, are made of brass and are available only online. Glass beads are used on both table runners in the center row. The skeleton runner on the left is 36” x 13” and hand crafted. The Beaded Coffin runner on the right is 35” x 13”. The fabric for both is polyester. The place mats in the bottom row are 15” in diameter, made of polyester and use glass beads. The skull mat on the right is handcrafted.

Lumbar pillows are shown in the top row. Throw pillows are shown in the second row. While they have many more, the top row is representative of their selection and the middle row featuring cats really shows the range of their pillow creativity, going left to right from cute to casual to stunning. Doormats in the bottom row are 30” x 18” and made of coir backed with PVC. They are good for indoor or covered outdoor use.

Partyswizzle.com is essentially a business that provides party planning help and all kinds of party goods to make your parties more fun. While they have a warehouse in Nashville, TN, they only sell online. They provide support for a large number of party themes.

Both items in the top picture are hanging bats. The one on the left is 7” x 2” and has red eyes. The one on the right is a hanging vampire bat (painted on a baseball bat). Use both if you have the sense of humor, or if you want a great conversation starter. The ghost candles on the bottom left are 6.5” and 10” tall, sold in a set of 2, and even at only $6.67 for the set, much too cute to actually burn. The lighted hanging ghost on the right is 12” x 6” x 3” and requires 3 AA batteries, not included. It’s perfect to hang outside or inside over the bar. Party City

The gauze decorating kit with bats shown on the fireplace mantle in the top loft really sets the stage for spooky. It is actually 9 pieces of fabric that will cover 15’ the way it’s used, or the pieces can be used as well to decorate lamps or smaller tables. The shower curtain on the right takes the scary level all the way up to Psycho level and the Bates Motel for those who love gory for Halloween. The doormat and door knocker in the bottom row set the stage for all who enter.

The tombstones in the top row are 22” tall and made of foam. Besides the two shown, there are two more in this same general design. One sais “Rest in Pieces” and the other “RIP,” so there are pretty good choices. There are also other designs of tombstones. The bottom row features “groundbreakers” on either side, so whether you’re a fan of skeletons or zombies, you’re covered. The hanging reaper in the middle is 7’ tall and has moveable arms so you can position them to make him even scarier.

Swoozie’s

Swoozies opened their first store in Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia in 2001. Half of the store features invitations & stationery and half is devoted to gifts, many of them being personalized. The gift area of the store is theme based, changing with the seasons. The folks at Swoozie’s are passionate about many things, including recognizing and celebrating life’s occasions. There are now ten Swoozie’s stores, mostly in the Southern states, most recently in the Denver area, and swoozies.com. They have treatments for party supplies seen nowhere else, and their irreverence is readily apparent in all their product categories.
