Until recently the magic combination of caramel and pecan flavors was a Southern secret. We’ve used our Caramel Pecan Mousse Mix for a number of desserts, including serving it in a martini glass, topping pumpkin pie with it, and even using it to fill cannoli. But it wasn’t until recently that we tried it as flavoring for bread pudding, adding pecans and pieces of yams for added texture and flavor (pictured). We knew immediately we had a hit, and it was immediately clear why bread puddings have made Southern cooks famous. So if you’re looking for an innovative Valentine’s dessert that will be loved by one and all, this is it. You can prepare it in advance and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve dinner. Put it in the oven right before you begin dinner, and it will be perfect by the time you’re finished. Or bake it ahead and reheat just until warm to serve. Drizzle with a bit of caramel sundae sauce for garnish if desired. You don’t have to be Southern to become famous for your Valentine’s dessert.
