Our Casablanca dip mix includes spices used in Moroccan cooking from ancient times, but used in a whole new way for a lovely sweet, spicy taste.
Like many Moroccan flavor combinations with cinnamon, cumin and cayenne, our Casablanca Dip Mix works particularly well in combination with meat and fruit. Mixed just with apple butter, you have an incredible dipping sauce for warm or cold chunks of cooked pork (appetizer pictured). This is a great way to use leftover pork, particularly for summer parties when you want to keep cooking to a minimum. It’s also a lovely glaze for grilled or roasted pork loin (pictured) or chicken.
This is even great for just dipping potato chips or pretzels! And for those who like all things spicy, it's delicious any way you would usually use apple butter!
MORE ON HOW TO SERVE THIS MIX:
Sandwich Spread: For an easy, sophisticated canapé, put slices of warm or cold pork loin on baguette slices and dollop with the apple butter mixture for Casablanca Pork Canapés (pictured). Add a piece of cheese if desired for more richness. Serve extra sauce on the side. Either will be a stand out dish at any party. This appetizer is great for summer picnics – no mayo to spoil. For regular sandwiches, spread on one or both slices of bread, add sliced pork, chicken or turkey and cheese if desired. These sandwiches are a great alternative to the usual tuna or lunch meat, and make a wonderful, quick summer dinner.
Cheese Ball or Spread Recipe: This flavor combination works well with cheese too. It’s easy to make into Casablanca Chicken Cheese Spread (pictured); just combine the dip mix with cream cheese, apple butter and shredded rotisserie chicken. Reduce the apple butter, increase the cream cheese and add chicken for Casablanca Chicken Cheese Ball (pictured). Complete directions are on the label.
Substitute 8 oz of shredded cheddar cheese for one of the cream cheese packages to kick these options up a notch.
Add minced dried fruit like apricots or dates to the cheese ball or spread for a more traditional Moroccan flavor profile
Add a nice crunch and even more layers of flavor by serving the cheese ball, spread and chunks of pork loin with the Roasted Sweet Onion flavored Trisket® Brown Rice baked with Sweet Potato crackers.
This flavor profile is complimented by seasonal ales, fruity red wines and hard apple cider.
Apple Butter Replacement: Peach butter is a delicious summer replacement for apple butter. It brings a delightfully spicy new flavor profile to your menu.
