Dill with garlic and lemon combine to perfectly compliment salmon in our Dill Lover’s Dip Mix for Salmon. You add the salmon (grilled, poached, smoked, baked and canned all work). Mix salmon into the dip or use lox on top. Delicious on cocktail, pumpernickel or rye bread either way.
The first picture features cocktail rye spread with the salmon mixed into the dip. The next picture shows canapés where cocktail rye is spread with just the dip and lox slices are placed on top. The dill and salmon flavor combo and both these lovely, sophisticated appetizers have been popular for generations.
Dry white wines and Lemon Drop martinis are delicious with this flavor profile.
MORE ON HOW TO SERVE THIS DIP:
Smoked Fish Spread: Absolutely striking as Dilled Smoked Salmon Spread (pictured). Substitute smoked trout, bluefish or whitefish for a whole new delicious experience. Served with crackers or cocktail rye bread, this is a retro, classic party appetizer.
Bagel Spread: Use it to replace the usual lox and schmear for Dilled Salmon Bagels; accompany with a dry white wine for brunch (pictured). Add capers and red onion slices if desired.
Fun Presentation: Use cookie cutters to cut out your favorite bread; toast bread and spread with dip. Garnish with dill sprigs if desired. Note: Cutout sandwiches are not just for kids. Adults love these party appetizers too.
TIP: Cut bread before toasting. Use medium size cookie cutters so pieces are just big enough for 2-3 small bites. Mini-cutters are often too small for cutout details to be noticeable; large cutters make pieces too large to handle easily. Choose cutters that reflect the season (hearts, shamrocks, flags) or special interests (pets, train, airplane, sail boat, state, baby bootie); avoid those with narrow “tails” that make spreading difficult; examples:
Salad Dressing: Use this with just mayo for Dilled Dressing. Pictured as a dressing for Dilled Tuna Macaroni Salad. Also great in place of mayo in Dilled Tuna Salad for sandwiches and most any sandwich that includes Mediterranean ingredients, think turkey with roasted red peppers, thinly sliced red onions, and cheese. Easy ideas for parties or buffets.
Wow your guests with inspired flavor combinations using this dip/spread. Choose from a whole variety of tasty fish, or even chicken and turkey. The hard part is choosing which easy ideas you want to use for parties or buffets.
